Coastal Infrastructure Encouraging Biological Growth

ECOncrete, an Israeli startup, has designed multiple coastal defense systems which promote plant and animal growth. Typically, defense systems such as breakwaters and seawalls disrupt the natural ecosystem by destroying local habitats. ECOncrete´s designs mimic the natural coastal environment by using similar material properties, surface patterns, and overall shape in order to create new defense systems which support the natural ecosystem.
