UL students participating in the Master in Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the Graduate School for Agronomy and Food Industry will work during the first semester (BIO-TECH semester), looking at the main biological / ecological concepts concerning processes and functions in urban landscapes and how they translate into the presented challenges.
UL students define challenges.
Zoom session with UL students in which they will present their research. After this they will be divided in groups of 2 working on the same topic.
Christian: Guest lecture (before the meeting on Business the teams of two students have already to be defined) – 3 hours (workshop) – monday before the symposium (1st of October)
Chiara (after the symposium): Guest lecture – 3 hours (workshop) – 7th of October h 9:00. > challenges and groups will be defined > start to work on case studies (online selection)
1st-4th October 2019
Symposium in Nancy. UL students will meet the trainers.
October – December 2019
UL students will classify the existing projects (state of the art / inspiration pool) including a typology of the existing case studies/applications (“solutions”). Select 4-5 case studies for selected challenges and ecosystem services. UL start to investigate the similarities and differences in the urban ecosystems between Nancy, Barcelona, Vienna and Copenhagen.
Look at research studies / gradients of technology (from low to high), including challenges in making such distinctions.
Online meeting with trainers. 5th of November h9:00-12:00.

To be organised an online meeting with UL students on the last week of November (28 of November in the morning 9:00-12:00). This will include also WU students if available.
Online meeting with trainers and UL, WU & IAAC students. This online event will be organised in order to introduce the concepts on which biology & ecological engineering students are working with business and design students. During this event the research developed by UL students in the field of biology and ecological engineering will be transferred to IAAC and WU students.
5 days event at IAAC (13-17 january 2020). 10 students and 1 teacher from WU, 10 students and 1 teacher from UL, will be invited to participate in a week event at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) Students will be divided into multidisciplinary groups, each group will have two students from each of the three educational institutions (UL, WU and IAAC). Each group will identify and develop ideas and solutions that contribute to city resilience and urban re-naturalisation.
Teams will work on their projects.
Online meeting. Learning how to pitch and sell business ideas and uploading it to online platform.
Online project presentations. Selection of best students. Expert panel consisting of business and industry specialists will select the best solution.
Selected students come to Bloxhub in Copenhagen for 1 month. The Accelerator Programme will transform the project into a start-up.
